You can apply for your provisional driving licence when you are sixteen. This might surprise you but at sixteen you are able to learn how to ride a moped, scooter or motorbike, which is of a certain size. It is worthwhile apply for your provisional driving licence ahead of your seventeenth birthday so that you are fully prepared for your first driving lesson,

The provisional driving licence comes in two parts. The first is a small credit card sized card, which is green. It has the ‘L’ for learner and also displays important information such as your name, address, date of birth, your driving licence number and also a photograph of yourself. The other part of the licence is the paper part. You will need to keep this in a safe place in case you are asked to present it to the police or if you get caught speeding. You need to make sure that you carry your plastic driving licence card with you whenever you are out driving just in case the police routinely pull you over.
