I am writing to thank the school for providing me with the skills to pass my driving test.
Having failed my driving test twice thirteen years ago and having not been behind the wheel since, I was quite wary about trying again. But my instructor, Martin, made me feel completely at ease. The course had more structure than my lessons years ago and, I have to say, the professionalism and manner in which Martin teaches had me wishing I'd been able to learn from someone like him from the start. I think he must be the most patient person I have met!”

Areas
to do Controls/Moving off & Stopping
It is best to start
this subject on quiet roads like Ellesmere Road or Granville Road.
Left/Right turns and emerging at T-Junctions
ADS
recommend doing a circuit which starts on Ellesmere Road, taking the
first turning right takes us on to Gower Road emerging left takes us
to Old Avenue and then turns left on to Granville Road. We can
then turn right on to Cavendish Road. Emerging right takes us on to
Egerton Road going straight on takes us back to Gower Road then
emerge left on to Ellesmere Road. This allows the learner to
practice steering, MSPSL and Peep and Creep techniques.
Crossroads
The crossroads of Ellesmere Road, Queens Road and Netherby
Park can be used to illustrate priorities and the extra observation
applied at crossroads.
Roundabouts
The roundabouts
where Monument Hill, Oatlands Drive, Queens Road and Hanger Hill come
together; can be used to illustrate priorities, methods of
positioning and the appropriate signals for a given exit. Also try
the Heath Road, Hanger Hill and Brooklands Road.
Meeting
Traffic
When two cars meet and yet there is only room for one
to pass, this is known as meeting traffic. The body language of the
other car is key to knowing how to proceed. Practice in Elgin Road,
Baker Street or Gower Road to gain a good understanding of
this.
Pedestrian Crossings and use of Signals
Oathlands
Drive and High Street both have plenty of crossings which can be used
to demonstrate the various different types of crossings and the rules
applying to road markings. Planning issues can also be addressed on
this road.
Areas to do manoeuvres
The Reverse around
the Corner exercise can be carried out where Ellesmere Road meets
either Farleton Close or Firlands. The parallel park can be done in
Ellesmere Road or Foxholes. The Turn in the Road is easily
demonstrated on either Ellesmere Road or Elgin Road.
