I am writing to thank the school for providing me with the skills to pass my driving test.
Having failed my driving test twice thirteen years ago and having not been behind the wheel since, I was quite wary about trying again. But my instructor, Martin, made me feel completely at ease. The course had more structure than my lessons years ago and, I have to say, the professionalism and manner in which Martin teaches had me wishing I'd been able to learn from someone like him from the start. I think he must be the most patient person I have met!”

Areas to do controls/Moving off & Stopping
Bonnington Square is the perfect road to practice the basics of driving such as moving off and stopping. It is a very quiet street where the student can also get to grips with the controls of the car.
Left/Right turns and emerging at T-Junctions
Affinity Driving School recommends the following circuit for carrying out turns and emerging at T-junctions:
Begin on Kennington Lane, heading away from the river. Take the left hand turn onto Loughborough Street and continue along until you reach Newburn Street where you have to turn left. At the end of this road there is a T Junction where the road meets Vauxhall Street. Emerge left onto Vauxhall Street and continue to follow it until you come to the road that circles around the Kennington Oval. At this point, take a right onto the circular road and then take the first road off to the right called Harleyford Road. You are looking for the second exit on the right which will take you back onto Kennington Lane where you started.
This circuit provides a tried and tested method for allowing you to practice steering, MSPSL and peep and creep techniques.
Meeting Traffic
When two cars meet and yet there is only room for one to pass, this is known as meeting traffic. The body language of the other car is key to knowing how to proceed. Although a dead end, Lawn Lane is a good street to where the student can gain a good understanding of this as the parked cars take up most of one side of the road.
Roundabouts
The student will find a roundabout where a good understanding of how to negotiate and cross them safely can be gained. Priorities, positioning and the appropriate signals to use can be practiced here.
Pedestrian Crossings and use of Signals
For the student to get practice negotiating pedestrian crossings, practice driving up and down Kennington Lane as there are a variety to be found here.
Areas to do Maneuvers
Bonnington Square or Ebbisham Drive are both ideal for practicing a turn in the road and parallel parking. For reversing around a corner, try the corner of Langley Lane and Bonnigton Square or where Bonnigton Square meets Vauxhall Grove.
