We are delighted to be able to serve the area of Tolworth (KT5 & KT6) with both automatic and manual driving lessons. Please see the information below which is intended to help develop your key driving competencies further. It has been provided by our fully DSA-licensed driving instructors.
Areas to do controls/Moving off & Stopping
The Ridge is a suitably quiet road for practicing moving off and stopping.
Left/Right turns and emerging at T-Junctions
For a circuit that is suitable for practicing left and right turns and emerging at T-junctions, begin on The Ridge, and then emerge left on to Surbiton Hill Park. Here the student should turn left on to Regent Road and then emerge left on to Berrylands. Next, turn right on to Pine Walk and emerge left on to Chiltern Drive. From here, another left takes you back on to The Crest where at the end emerging left will take the student back on to Berrylands again. The first right on Berrylands takes the student back to The Ridge. Steering, MSPSL and Peep and Creep techniques can be practiced here.
Crossroads
Avenue South, Manor Drive, Kings Drive and Courtlands Road all provide suitable crossroads where priorities and extra observation can be illustrated well. For practice on how to negotiate right-to-right crossroads, the intersection of Ewell Road, Tolworth Broadway, Elgar Avenue and Princes Avenue are suitable.
Roundabouts
Where Elmbridge Avenue, Raeburn Avenue and Surbiton Hill Park come together is a suitable roundabout for the student to gain experience of correct priorities, signaling and positioning required for any given exit.
Pedestrian Crossings and use of Signals
Ewell Road and Tolworth Broadway have plenty of crossings from which the student can gain experience of the different types and their road markings. This road also enables planning issues to be addressed.
Areas to do maneuvers
Reversing around a corner can be done where Berrylands meets either The Ridge or The Crest. Berrylands is also suitable for parallel parks. The Turn in the Road exercise can be easily demonstrated on Regent Road.
