I am writing to thank the school for providing me with the skills to pass my driving test.

Having failed my driving test twice thirteen years ago and having not been behind the wheel since, I was quite wary about trying again. But my instructor, Martin, made me feel completely at ease. The course had more structure than my lessons years ago and, I have to say, the professionalism and manner in which Martin teaches had me wishing I'd been able to learn from someone like him from the start. Driving Schools in Streatham (SW2 & SW16)

Welcome to affinity Driving school here we are proud to offer Driving Schools in Streatham (SW2 & SW16) along with fantastic driving lessons in this area for both automatic and manual cars. Please see the information below which is intended to help develop your key driving competencies further. It has been provided by our fully DSA-licensed driving instructors.

Areas to do controls/Moving off & Stopping
Try Palace road (in SW2) for moving off and stopping and familiarizing yourself with the controls. In SW16 Abbotsleigh Road can be used for the same purpose.

Left/Right turns and emerging at T-Junctions
Affinity Driving School recommends the following circuit for carrying out turns and emerging at T-junctions:

For SW2: Begin on Hillside Road, turn right on to Barcombe Avenue and then emerge right on to Faygate Road. Taking the next turning to the left takes us onto Cricklade Avenue. Emerge left at the mini roundabout where Cricklade Avenue and Emsworth Street intersect on to Emsworth Street. Emerging left takes us onto Amesbury Avenue. Going ahead at the roundabout of Fayegate Road, Hillside Road and Amesbury Avenue takes us back to Hillside Road.

For SW16: Begin on Birchwood Road, bearing left the student is on Chillerton Road and taking the second turning to the left we are on Ramsdale Road. Take the first turn right to be on Furzedown Drive and then the third turning to the right takes us back to Birchwood Road. Emerging left we are on Daleside Road. At the end of Daleside Road emerging right takes us onto Parklands Road. Driving to the end of Parklands road we can emerge right on to Nimrod Road. At the crossroads of Moyser Road and Nimrod Road we can emerge right on to Moyser Road and then emerge right on to Furzedown Drive. Taking the first turning left we are back on Birchwood Road.

These circuits provides a tried and tested method for allowing you to practice steering, MSPSL and peep and creep techniques.

Meeting Traffic
When two cars meet and yet there is only room for one to pass, this is known as meeting traffic. The body language of the other car is key to knowing how to proceed. Practice in Sternhold Avenue (SW2) or Moyser Road (SW16) to gain a good understanding of this.

Roundabouts
In SW2 there are only mini roundabouts like the one already mentioned at the intersection of Fayegate Road, Hillside Road and Amesbury Avenue. In SW16 we have the roundabout on Furzedown Road and the roundabout at the end of Church Lane.

The mini roundabouts in SW2 can be used to reinforce issues surrounding priorities and correct signals. The Roundabouts in the Furzedown area of SW16 can be used to illustrate priorities, positioning and the correct signals to be given.

Pedestrian Crossings and use of Signals
Streatham High Road has plenty of crossings from which the student can gain experience on how to negotiate them correctly.

Areas to do Manoeuvres
For SW2 the corner of Roupell Road and Palace Road provides a good place to carry out reversing around a corner. Both turn in the road and parallel parking can be practiced on Palace Road.

For SW16 the corner of Welham Road and Gorse Road provides a good place to carry out reversing around a corner. Both turn in the road and parallel parking can be practiced on Welham Road.
