“Glad my previous instructor let me down or I wouldn't have been able to learn with Affinity”

I called upon Suresh late in the game as I had been let down by my previous instructor.  I found the transition very smooth and immediately liked his teaching style- professional yet relaxed.  I felt more and more comfortable and confident as we progressed and his easy teaching methods made even the most daunting maneuver seem easy.  I am glad that my previous instructor let me down as otherwise I am sure I would not have passed if I had not been introduced to Suresh.  I will definitely recommend him to anyone wanting to learn to drive in the future. Thanks Suresh!

Driving Schools Merton Park (SW19 & SW20)

We are delighted to be able to serve the area of Driving School Merton Park (SW19 & SW20) with both automatic and manual driving lessons. Please see the information below which is intended to help develop your key driving competencies further. It has been provided by our fully DSA-licensed driving instructors.

Areas to do controls/Moving off & Stopping

Erridge Road is a quiet street where the student can learn how to start and stop, and familiarize themselves with the controls in the car.

Left/Right turns and emerging at T-Junctions

Affinity Driving School recommends the following circuit for carrying out turns and emerging at T-junctions:

Begin along Erridge Road. At the end of the road emerge left on to Dorset Road and then take the first left on to Melrose Road. From here turn left on to Poplar Road. Next at the crossroads of Erridge and Poplar Roads take the first right on to Erridge Road. Taking the first left leads us on to Keswick Avenue. At the end of this short road we can emerge left on to Kenley Road and emerge left again on to Circle Gardens. Taking the first left leads us on to Poplar Road and taking the first right takes us back on to Erridge Road.

This circuit provides a good, quiet route to practice steering, MSPSL and peep and creep techniques.

Meeting Traffic

For learning about meeting traffic - when a road only has space for one car to pass, try Mostyn Road. It is quiet and provides a good environment to practice this aspect of driving.

Crossroads

The crossroads of Erridge Road and Poplar Road can be used to illustrate priorities and the extra observation applied at crossroads.

Pedestrian Crossings and use of Signals

For pedestrian crossings and signals, Kingston Road provides the learner with plenty of good practice.

Areas to do Maneuvers

Erridge Road is a good place for practicing the turn in the road and parallel park exercises. Reversing around the corner can be practiced at the intersection of Erridge Road and Hazelbury Close.
