I am writing to thank the school for providing me with the skills to pass my driving test.
Having failed my driving test twice thirteen years ago and having not been behind the wheel since, I was quite wary about trying again. But my instructor, Martin, made me feel completely at ease. The course had more structure than my lessons years ago and, I have to say, the professionalism and manner in which Martin teaches had me wishing I'd been able to learn from someone like him from the start. I think he must be the most patient person I have met!”

Areas to do Controls/Moving off & Stopping
It is best to start this subject on a quiet road like Poole Road.
Left/Right turns and emerging at T-Junctions
ADS recommend doing a circuit which starts on Poole Road, turns right on to Crosslands Road and then turns left on to Shawford Road. We can then turn left on to Daleside Road. Emerging right takes us back on to Poole Road. Taking the first turning right takes us on to Cherry Way. Emerging left takes us on to Shawford Road. We can then emerge left on to Gadesden Road and emerge left again back on to Poole Road. This allows the learner to practice steering, MSPSL and Peep and Creep techniques.
Crossroads
The crossroads of Poole Road, Gadesden Road and Scotts Farm Road can be used to illustrate priorities and the extra observation applied at crossroads. This junction can also be used to provide instruction on the methods of turning right-to-right at a crossroads.
Roundabouts
The roundabout where Longmead Road, Blenheim Road and Almond Road come together; can be used to illustrate priorities, methods of positioning and the appropriate signals for a given exit.
Meeting Traffic
When two cars meet and yet there is only room for one to pass, this is known as meeting traffic. The body language of the other car is key to knowing how to proceed. Practice in High Street to gain a good understanding of this.
Pedestrian Crossings and use of Signals
Chessington Road has plenty of crossings which can be used to demonstrate the various different types of crossings and the rules applying to road markings. Planning issues can also be addressed on this road.
Areas to do manoeuvres
The Reverse around the Corner exercise can be carried out where Castlemaine Avenue meets Fairfax Avenue. The parallel park can be done in Arundel Avenue. The Turn in the Road is easily demonstrated on Ewell Downs Road.
