"I overcome my weaknesses in driving under Affinity"

I learnt to drive with Affinity at my own pace and Suresh was flexible in his approach to teaching so it would suit me.
I was encouraged when disheartened and praised when I was doing well.
I was taught the theory of driving in tandem with its practical elements.
My weaknesses were targeted specifically one at at a time and in a focused manner, leaving me confident to sit my test with a methodical and calm approach.

Areas to do Controls/Moving off & Stopping

It is best to start this subject on a quiet road like Waverley Drive. This road can be also used for uphill starts.

Left/Right turns and emerging at T-Junctions

ADS recommend doing a circuit which starts on Ferndale Avenue, emerges right on to Bittams Lane and then turns right on to Hillcrest Avenue. We can then take the first right on to Ferndale Avenue . At the end of the road we can emerge right on to Little Green Lane. Take a right turn at the T-Junction and we will end up on Bittams Lane then taking the third right leads us back to Hillcrest Avenue. At the end of the road turning left takes us on to Waverley Drive. Emerging left takes us to Sandalwood Avenue. We can then emerge right back on to Little Green Lane. Taking the first right we are back on Ferndale Avenue.  This allows the learner to practice steering, MSPSL and Peep and Creep techniques.

Crossroads

The crossroads of London Street, Bridge Road, Abbey Road and Pound Road can be used to illustrate priorities and the extra observation applied at crossroads. This junction can also be used to provide instruction on the methods of turning right-to-right at a crossroads..

Roundabouts

The roundabouts on Eastworth Road and Pyrcroft Road; can be used to illustrate priorities, methods of positioning and the appropriate signals for a given exit.

Pedestrian Crossings and use of Signals

Driving down Windsor Street, London Street there are plenty of crossings which can be used to demonstrate the various different types of crossings and the rules applying to road markings. Planning issues can also be addressed on these roads.

Areas to do manoeuvres

The Reverse around the Corner exercise can be carried out where Little Green Lane meets Merrylands. The parallel park can be done in Ferndale Avenue. The Turn in the Road is easily demonstrated on Crosslands.
