"I overcome my weaknesses in driving under Affinity"

I learnt to drive with Affinity at my own pace and Suresh was flexible in his approach to teaching so it would suit me.
I was encouraged when disheartened and praised when I was doing well.
I was taught the theory of driving in tandem with its practical elements.
My weaknesses were targeted specifically one at at a time and in a focused manner, leaving me confident to sit my test with a methodical and calm approach.

Please see the information below which is intended to help develop your key driving competencies further. It has been provided by our fully DSA-licensed driving instructors.

Areas to do controls/Moving off & Stopping

Kerfield Square and Kerfield Crescent are very quiet roads on which to practice the basics of driving such as moving off, stopping and learning how to use the controls.

Left/Right turns and emerging at T-Junctions

Affinity Driving School recommends the following circuit for carrying out turns and emerging at T-junctions:

Begin on Camberwell Station Road heading away from Camberwell New Road. Drive to the end of the road where it meets Denmark Road at a T Junction. Turn right here onto Denmark Road and then take the first left onto Paulet Road. Follow this road and turn left at the T Junction where it meets Lilford Road. Driving along Lilford Road, take the first left onto Carew Street. This road brings you back to Denmark Road. Turn left here onto Denmark Road and then shortly afterwards turn right (the first turning on this road) which is Camberwell Station Road again.

This circuit provides a tried and tested method for allowing you to practice steering, MSPSL and peep and creep techniques.

Meeting Traffic

When two cars meet and yet there is only room for one to pass, this is known as meeting traffic. The body language of the other car is key to knowing how to proceed. Morna Road and Crawford Road are suitable for practicing this aspect of driving.

Roundabouts

Knatchbull Road, Denmark Road, Flodden Road and Calais Street meet at a roundabout where the student can practice and gain a good understanding of how to negotiate and cross them safely. Priorities, positioning and the appropriate signals to use can be practiced here.

Pedestrian Crossings and use of Signals

Camberwell New Road offers plenty of pedestrian crossings for students to practice handling.

Areas to do Maneuvers

Grove Lane offers a good place to practice the turn in the road and parallel parking. For reversing around a corner, try the corner of where Grove Lane meets Love Walk.
