Areas to do controls/Moving off & Stopping
Rosslyn Road is a good place to begin practicing moving off and stopping and learning how to use the controls.
Left/Right turns and emerging at T-Junctions
The circuit ADS recommends begins on Rosslyn Road then turns left on to Riverdale Road. Following the bend to the left Riverdale Road becomes Ravensbourne Road and then turning left we are on Ellesmere Road. Emerging right returns us to Rosslyn Road; from where we can turn right on to Arlington Road. Following the bend to the right Arlington Road becomes Ravensbourne Road and taking the next turning to the right we are back on Ellesmere Road. If we emerge left back on to Rosslyn Road we are now in position to begin the route all over again. This circuit provides a tried and tested method for allowing the student to practice steering, MSPSL and peep and creep techniques.
Roundabouts
The roundabout where Richmond Road meets Crown Road is a good roundabout to learn about methods of priorities and the necessary signals to be used for any exit.
Crossroads
Where Sandycombe Road, Rosslyn Road and Richmond Road meet is a suitable crossroad to learn about priorities and the necessary extra observation required at crossroads. ??Pedestrian Crossings and use of Signals ?Travelling down York Street which becomes Kings Street which becomes Heath Road the pupil will encounter plenty of pedestrian crossings and signals to enable the student to familiarize themselves with the varying types. ??
Areas to do maneuvers
Reversing around the corner can be rehearsed on the corner of Ellesmere Road and Rosslyn Road. Parallel parking can also be carried out safely on Arlington Road.
